Your face in my Book

It really has been ''a while'' since the last post I made, but that's alright, I didn't post much status in my personal Facebook account neither, let alone Twitter or Google+ ...

Sometimes I wonder what's the purpose of having accounts in social sites that you don't even bother to update from time to time. lol.

Ever recall the days that we don't have Facebook? Yes I do. I always do.
And I always miss those days:

''As you enter the class,
you and your friends talk about the shopping mall they went with parents last weekend, showing each other our drawings, share the laughter together in front of the children magazines....Children nowadays do not practice these again I presume.''

Why am I so sure about it?
Because Foursquare, pic uploads and ''Share'' button that's why!!

But the inconvenient truth is that we don't chat to the person we wish anymore, the intention is there, the urge is forceful, the need is intense but they just can't compel actions from us
Ya, as long as from the perspectives I see, you have photos tagged in lively gathering, joyful interactions with your friends, funny status updates.

It's just fine for me to wish you a happy life. :)

However, sometimes I hope that our friendship can find a way back into the very beginning of the relationship.        #justwish

And sometimes, I wish to tell you more, something more than a mere Like.

PROJECT 9: INTEGRATED PROJECT (ANGLE)

In this project, I'm able to work under the same team again,it has been a while since the last group project ...which means ''Sleepless Studio Session'' once again?  :)

But  I'm glad  that I can meet and work with my team members again! as the rapport we built up still holds~

The next thing that makes me happy is that the project is quite challenging as we're assigned to design a single storey freestanding structure, precisely, a pavilion with floor area not exceeding 500 sq meter on the basis of our interpretation of USM Mission and Vision.

In short, the design has to be Sustainable, Eco-friendly, User-friendly, Innovative and Prospective.

An early sketches of our design

In the quest of a better flow of work, our team leader Cheryl Chew  has prepared  a schedule listing each member's specified task and deadline in accordance to respective field and workload. I was
selected to be in the design team , responsible for creating the 4x A1 presentation board and the model of pavilion.

After settled all the task, here marks the beginning of
 ''FROM  NOTHING TO SOMETHING''

A picture depicting the design team's work environment

We took about a week to complete our model, most of the time we make use of the studio at night for our job. It is a great facility that provides convenience to us. I would also like to thanks our tutor Ar.Haris for his guide in the design concept of the model, he does not interfere a lot in our design, instead he supports our concept by giving suggestions and refinements that are applicable to the design.

After completing the model, our group starts focus on the presentation board, which is in 4 A1 size.

After completing this last integrated  project, it could be said that the end of the semester is just around the corner.

Looking back into the 2 group project, I am so grateful that I have many wonderful teammates that worked together with me.

It was them who convinced me when I was about to give up.
It was them who support me when I was about to fall

THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the support and tolerance given
It was my best time in sem 1 studio to be in this Group 7 for the assignments !

PROJECT 8: OBJECT CONNECTION ( JOINTING )

This project is a team project where all the HBP first year students are required to come out with a huge picture made up of numerous number of  puzzles of each individual.

The diagram above is the brief  and concept diagram prepared by studio;s lecturer to aid us in the assignment.

The puzzle should contain my name in creative writing style as well as the  background doodle about our studio life since we entered HBP.

MY INSPIRATIONS:

The theme of my puzzle is RAINBOW~~

The image of HBP in the puzzle....
the letter ''H'' derived from the facade of my beloved studio~

My favourite symbol -LOTUS ~~ as always :)

But on the day of submission where
we combine our puzzle together, I was shocked that there was an empty space between mine with the one beside me.(The empty space near rainbow colour region in the picture below)
and my puzzle was not able to produce a perfect jointing with my neighbour.

It's no point to argue who was right and wrong, the important thing was that I learnt to deal with unexpected circumstances with a heart of tolerance and gratitude.
I am sure that this was a chance for me to comprehend the meaning  and what the assignment is about.

As what my studio master Ar.Najib said:

'' I don't care what you drew on the puzzle at all,  what I'm interested is the way my  students co-operate among themselves to accomplish the task.''

After the studio, I made an extra circular puzzle to fit into the gap and the problem was solved~Simple as that.

Instead of....

I face it with ...

THE FINAL PUZZLE !

REVIEW
It is common that sometimes we come across situations that are not desirable and seems that we need to give extra effort for matters that is not even exist in the first place.

 But,
responsibility isn't about dedicating ourselves just to fulfill task given to us
in a wider scope,
it actually means the willingness for individual to bear the responsibility of others' whenever we are capable.

It is by cultivating tolerance and mutual understanding through
 the affairs of daily life,
that we become refined in demeanor and considerate about people around us.

PROJECT 7: ANALYSIS OF GTWH BUILDING ( PRESENTATION ))

This project was a groupwork and I was arranged to GROUP 7 with Cheryl Chew as the leader. After discussion with Ar.Haris, our group decided to study on Old Town Hall, Old City Hall and  High Court
 PENANG HIGH COURT

OLD TOWN HALL

                            OLD CITY HALL

We divided the group members into 4 groups where 3 groups are responsible for site analysis of the three building and the fourth group doing the design and artworks of the board and I was in that design group.

By the way, I also went to the 3 sites in Georgetown, while the members of  other groups also contributed to the making  of the board.

The good values in our group is that we not only focus on our task assigned, when we are free, we helped each other regardless of the division we're in.

The picture of Old City Hall at dusk.
I'm so amazed of the Edwardian Baroque style of it.
Looking at the building right in front of my eyes is totally not the same as seeing it on photography!

A photo of our site visit team near Fort Cornwallis.
This was the first time for me to visit the Padang Kota Lama, and I'm glad that I have the accompany of my friends and teammates Cheryl Chew, Sharrol Yin and Davies Chung. :)

SOOO....AFTER THE MEMORABLE SITE VISIT ...HERE COMES THE

TRUE TEST-

THE MAKING OF 4 A1 -SIZED BOARD

We have the studio session of our own for 3 days, and it was a very fresh experience for me in the appreciation of HBP aka  HANTU BALIK PAGI.

We started the studio at 9 p.m. for the 3 days.
The first day, I went back to hostel at 4a.m
The second day 6a.m.
and the climax....

In the last day we worked till the noon 12o'clock on the next day.

TIRED ?
YES.

But we are so proud of ourselves for managed to make the IMPOSSIBLE into I'M POSSIBLE.

AND THIS IS HOW WE DID IT

The ADVENTURE  feel we're trying to convey .

Burning our works? No!!! Solely effect purpose

Sometimes  the ''Discussion'' could be very
                                     intense...

Doing the frames....

You call it a sleepless studio session without  McD?

Taking photo with my neighbours ....

Group leader's confusion.

  Not yet decided????

But it's sunrise now~

Tiredness is unbearable

Sunshine in the studio

REVIEW

Looking back from this moment, with me sitting in front of my laptop typing the lines of review,
I recalled the time our group spent together
 with a heart of gratitude.

It was a really  meaningful and  enjoyable group assignment , so far the Best I ever had.

Ya
for many reasons...

making new friends
the adaption to studio life
visiting Georgetown
dealing with limited sleeping time
Rush hour
and many more...

but the most dominant is that
I learned to look for the similarities within the differences
among the team members.

The
different races,
different study fields
different task specification
different ideas
different attitudes
different feelings
different contributions

but

One Inspiration
and
One Passion

under the umbrella of

TEAM SEVEN
